When my motor was rebuilt years ago they used a star type nut for the cylinder flange bolts. I would like to replace them with the correct hex head nuts (for AMCA judging) but there seems to be no way to do that without actually lifting the cylinder off of the case.
If I cut off just the star nut (not the bolt) is there enough room to put on a hex nut without lifting the cylinder? The fin seems just too close to the nut/bolt combo.
Could the nuts be removed on the original without moving the entire cylinder unit?
