Longtime K rider, going to try out an 1100GS. Looking forward to the wisdom found here, and hope this beast gives half the pleasure I still get on the K75.

As a former Kbike owner, you're in for a treat.
It won't be as glass smooth as the K, but you're going to like the power coming out of the engine room and the modern brakes.
Good luck!

What he said. I went from a K75s to an 1150GS. What I miss about the K...hmmm....thinking.....it always started on the first press of the button....it was nice and smooth....
That's it.

Hi Scott,
You still take a really good picture. My oilhead starts right after I touch the button-- about three seconds after. The K75 was right away.

Paul:
Earlier this year I bought a 95 R1100RSL, while still riding a 94 K1100RS. The R is much nimbler on the road than the K, but it took a while to get used to the riding position. The K is a little more comfortable relative to seating and leg position. It seems to be a little more natural for my body size, 5'10", 200 lbs. After a coulpe of hours riding, I have to get off of the R and stretch my legs. A peg lowering kit may eliminate the need for this. There is however much less vibration in the R than the K and your hands will feel much looser after riding some distance. Because of the difference in weight, the R being lighter, I find that I am more agressive in the curves. It is dificult to compare suspension on these two since BMW didn't go to the newer suspension on the K bikes until 96. Both are equiped with works rear shocks, and I find the design of the K shock to be much easier adjusted for two up riding which I do a lot of. Ths may not be a problem with stock shocks, but I don't know. Brakes on the R are superior to the K, this could be a better system on the R or just the fact that it doesn't weigh as much. All things cosidered I like them both for the differences that they have, but I thiink thet I would like to try a RT for two up. Good luck.

What they all said. I had nine years on a K75S, and one day the dealer said "Try that one," pointing at an R1100RSL. Oh my. The front end is *so* much better and the brakes are better and it's faster and so on and so forth. The R11 is now at 79K, and I leave Sept. 24 for two weeks of NV, WY, MT, ID, BC etc.:)

Coming through OR? http://www.advrider.com/forums/images/smilies/ear.gif
A friend is coming west around then. He'll probably be on a rental HD, but we'll be doing some riding of some flavor.
