I bought a R75/6 last weekend. The swingarm length looks short, even though I'm assuming this is supposed to be a LWB.

Does anyone know the actual measurements so I can verify between the two?

I don't know the measurements, but ALL /6s have a long wheelbase. The changeover occured during the /5 series.

There is a visual clue, however: look at where the swingarm meets the final drive. If you can see a 2-3" long tube that is welded between the flange and where the swingarm bells out, then you have a long wheelbase swingarm. (I believe when the /7s came out BMW had integrated this extension into the swingarm.)

I was surpised at the differences. I have a '83 R100 and a '72 R60/5 SWB. After reading your post, I measured them.

The R100 shaft (granted this is a newer model than yours) measured about 10-3/4", the R60/5 measured 9-1/2". I've seen some LWB bikes and the extended tube weld is obvious--but I thought it was more like 2.5 or 3". Not the case.

Anyway, you bike isn't a SWB.

I thought the inserted plug was 50mm. Hey, this is a metric bike, right!!

True enough, but I don't quite have a metric mind for measuring length. 50mm is about 1.97 inches according to my Mac. I'm thinking my measurement wasn't precise so that's probably about right, if not a bit too long.
