Hey guys, I know this post will make some of the purists cringe, but I'm selling my '05 KLR 650 which has a beautiful set of Jesse Aluminum side bags and they are pretty much the only thing left on the bike that I like.

Has anyone ever retrofit these bad boys to an airhead to replace my tired stock Krausers? If so, how?

It's an '84 R80RT and for all you "CarTalk" listeners out there, it's RED!

Thanks in advance,

Michael

You may have to have frames made to fit or mod the ones you have, but there's I can't see any reason they wouldn't work. RT purists views aside, do what you want. It's your ride.

Got any pictures of them? And dimensions? I've always liked the rugged look of them on GS bikes and thought about putting knobbies, a solo seat and ammo boxes on my SWB /5 if it doesn't sell.

I think that that can be done. On my 86, I motified the stock luggage rack to fit a set of 35 L Pelican cases. Never seen that before, but made it happen. It ended up costing more than I originally wanted and it took longer than expected, but that is what happens sometimes with custom modifications. I love it, get plenty of compliments on the set up. Do it, do it...:dance

I have a call in with Jesse bags to see if they have a retrofit, otherwise I stop over to my welding friend!

Thanks for the info guys!

'08 KLR650 here with Jesse bags and the bike and bag setup is sweet. Of course the new '08 KLR's have been much improved. Its quite a nice little tourer. Good luck saving the bags to your other bike. The bags are worth a lot, so I understand entirely trying to use them:). Randy GSA1200/KLR650, love 'em both:):thumb:usa
