Does anyone know what the correct procedure is for tightening the heads on a 2000 R1100R? One source says to tighten the nuts on the studs to 15 foot pounds and then turn an additional 90 degrees. Another source says to tighten them to 17 foot pounds and then turn them 180 degrees. Which is right?

That's a little disconcerting!

Haynes says 3 step process:
1 20Nm
2 90 degree
3 90 degree

I've done this on one of the bolts(each side) after setting the rocker end play.

Both your sources are wrong.

When installing the head (all nuts loose), torque each nut to 20 nm (14.7 lb ft) in a criss cross fashion, then turn each nut 90 degrees, then each nut another 90 degrees.

When retorquing the head (all nuts tight, do this 600 miles after installing the head), loosen one nut, torque nut to 20 nm (14.7 lb ft), then turn the nut 180 degrees. Do this to each nut in a criss cross fashion.
