The plastic washers are spacers that fit between the large shim and the seat support bracket if you want more lift. The long screws replace the stock ones. You will use the small washers on the stock screws on the new longer ones.

So what exactly is the purpose of the large shim under each seat supporting bracket? Is it to add height or to ? Seems to me that unless it's there to add height it's not really needed.

The large shim is to add height to the front of the seat. The washers add more.

They are for adding height.I just installed mine today.I cant believe how much of a difference it made ,no more sliding forward or pushing yourself back on the seat.My wife always says size does matter.

My bike came with a flat piece of sheet metal under each support bracket. It's black and fits cleanly underneath. It's very thin, maybe a 1/16th. Not sure if this was stock or part of something to further raise the seat.

Hello, new to my R1150RT, wondering if when you added the seat jacks, it affected your ability to flatfoot the bike? I don't like sliding forward but don't want to add more height to the seat.

I took the seat off and had a close look at the mounting point and discovered the previous owner had already done the two pieces of wood to raise it about 1/4 inch! Go figure!

I still slide a bit towards the tank on stops, can't imagine how much worse it would be without the shims that are in place!

oh well, thanks anyways.
