OK, a month ago I wrote about having a loss of power in a rainstorm. the bike ('02 GS) has 101K miles on it. I convinced myself that changing the plug wires and the coil was a good idea. I did that, but unfortunately I did not fix the problem.
The last time I had the problem it was more severe, and it felt kinda like a fueling issue. I can recreate the problem by spraying water up into the area underneath the gas tank (which is partly why I thought it was the plug wires / coils).
I noticed the rows of electrical connectors up by the coil when I took the tank off. My next plan is to unplug all those connectors, clean them up, and smear an entire tube of dielectric grease all over backs of the connectors to try to keep water out. How does that sound? Does anyone know offhand which connector powers the fuel pump?
If that doesn't work, my next plan is to stuff a sweatshirt up under the tank to keep the water out.
