View Full Version : CA Smog Checks for Bikes in 2012
Looks like Sacramento has found another way to take that hard earned cash out of your pocket. If passed, CA Senate Bill 435 would require smog/emission checks on motorcycles starting in 2012.
Looks like just another way for us to pay another tax, fee or whatever they want to call taking even more money out of our pockets. :banghead
The AMA has set up a link to voice your disapproval and send a e-mail or letter to your state senator. (Found the link while checking out the web site for Motojava.com, which was featured in the July 2009 Roadbike magazine)

I just read yesterday (on the internet! :)) that the smog check requirement was removed from the bill. However, there's still a section that requires bikes delivered with catalytic converters to continue to be equipped with them. This may be aimed at the straight pipes people.
Thanks for the up-date and clarification! :thumb

Been here too long anyways, at 29 years now. I transplanted here in 1980 from Virginia, with my Beemers. This state's been sliding down a slipery slope, quite a few years now and I need no more proding from Sacramento:(. Kids are grown and gone, wife wants to stay, I'm going make a one way ride out of here someday soon. Randy:thumb :usa

I just been all over the USA, riding to the rallies back east and all. A really good time. California is such a beautiful place, but full of the weirdest politics/folks on the planet! No argueing that. We have a small conservative base here, but its been a losing war for years and years now out here, as i've seen it. A few states have NO debt and are VERY enticing and I just saw a few of them, up close:). California doesn't have to worry about any quakes, because its self destructing politics is doing a fine job sinking this place. Shame:(. Almost a 50 BILLION$ debt and you want to hear the wooooosh as we go under out here. It won't be hard to hear!!!Randy
