I've returned to New Mexico from an extended stay in the People's Republic of New Jersey.
Thank doG!
The 12GS and I originally lived in Colorado. My insurance there was pretty low ($225). Jersey was $275. New Mexico is going to be $350ish (Geico), which seems rather high.
Anyone paying less than $300? Who are you using?
Thanks,
Sup

I'm paying $550 a year for my 4 bikes, 3 of them have lowish deductibles and all have high liability limits and same limits for uninsured/underinsured coverages.
I have Dairyland insurance with a very good agent that is there for me when I need him to be.

Hi, Rob,
I think I know your agent. I don't know how good he is, but his wife is a great person. I understand at various times she has been known to bake cookies!:wave

Insurance really varies with location. With my pickup and living in Pueblo, Colorado liability cost me $289 for 6 months. After moving back to Canon City (a whopping 40 miles West) it dropped to $114 (same truck, driver and insurance company/agent)
I switched insurance company on bikes at same time as move so cannot make a good comparison.

Dairyland.
Why would anyone support English-accent lizards and pseudo-cavemen? Insults to anyone's intelligence IMHO.

Had bad experience with progressive once on car insurance, but on mc insurance I have been happy. I have full coverage on an road pig touring bike with 6 cylinders, liability on a Rhino, and liability on my real motorcycle. When I added liability on my R90/6 and they refunded me $75. Seems that the discount for the third vehicle was more than the cost of liability.
Needless to say I was happy, need to convince the wife I need one more bike so I can save even more. the F650GS intrigues me, or maybe a new Bonnyville?

It is always interesting to me when these insurance threads have people happy and they are paying far more than I/others do in the same location, etc.. Sure it varies in cost at the same location or by other factors-and a lot! I buy American Modern(they have a bunch of brands) out of Cinn,OH and it is $227 per yr with theft , ect.. I was quoted 3x that for Progressive and even more for some other brands including the BMWMOA/Markel joke. Due to the fact that KY Farm Bureau doesn't sell MC ins., I must go a different direction, but sold through the same agent.
What is true is that it varies a bunch in various ways and often makes no sense as to why. I haven't had an chargeable accident in my lifetime(65) since 1968(youthful event-rather high speed involved too -while driving a 1965 Shelby Cobra roadster!) and yet some companies treat me like a leper and others are cheaper.I know that the area you live in is a factor too, but I haven't moved in over 30 years and haven't heard of any huge settlements near to me. A little "tort reform" would go a long ways, just like the current health insurance discussion. I priced a "discount policy" from a teachers union source one time and it was $2,600+ for premium that was like $300 from Farm Bureau! Go figure-its a rip!!!I find it interesting that insurance is expensive to ride in Mexico as they say that there are virtually never any high court deals like here. A guy that had been selling it for over 18 years, told me that he the largest settlement he had seen was in the teens$.As the court thing is one of the most expensive components, what are you paying for ,except profit?Good luck in New Mexico! The state of KY has a law that the ins companies must publish typical costs-I haven't seen the booklet inawhile so maybe nobodies minding that store?
P.S., Kinda interesting to have much discussion about health insurance reform and vehicle insurance is such a rip! Maybe you have heard of uninsured motorist-that's the direction we appear to be headed with health care. I say more its in the doghouse...
P.S.,I have enjoyed the experience of uninsured motorists(3 times!) making successful claims against my policy(3 teenage sons driving) when my sons were not at fault, and the other drivers had no insurance in each case. Yeh, I really love insurance companies. On TV/ mag. ads they make it sound like your agent is right next to your heart. Maybe if they bake great cookies is a reason to change companies?:dunno
