K12GT Cruise Control Failure

The cruise control on my 04 K12GT is having problems and I will appreciate any suggestions on how to diagnose this system.

Here are the symptoms: The cruise has always worked just fine. Then one day it kept cutting out, like I had pressed the brakes. Now it will only set about 1 time in 10, and even then it will only hold speed for a few moments before cutting out. The red light on the switch is on, and I don’t see any other indications what is wrong.

Any chance the brake switch is really sensitive? Would be able to tell I would think, by a flashing brake light, possibly when hitting a bump in the road? Worth checking I guess.

There's a neat test for cruise control far too long for me to post. If you PM me, I can fax it to you. The most common problem with cruise control is throttle cable adjustment-have you installed bar-bax recently?

Other than ride it and put gas in it, what is the last thing you did to the bike before this happened?
Nothing? Not even ride in a downpour? Then the areas to check are of course the brake switches, clutch switch, throttle turnoff switch, and the on switch for the cruise but it seems like the cruise is clearly on.
If you get that diagnostic proceedure, you can check those easier.
