Looking for direction on how to wire in a electrical cord for my S2 solo escort radar detector on an K1200S 2007 model. A buddy picked up a cord with a fuse already built in and I looked through the owners manual and there is no clues there.
Is there provisions on these bikes to hook up auxillary power outlets.
Thanks

DON'T hack into ANY CANbus equipped vehicle wiring - car or motorcycle. Much sadness, cost, and time will be spent in futility - not to mention fun phrases like "voided warranty", etc.
YMMV...

Wire it directly to the battery. The downside is that you might leave it on with the bike shut off.
Otherwise use a relay. Again run power off the battery then through a relay and on to the detector. Then find a switched power source in the fuse box or the bike's relays that will be used to switch the new relay on.
That is how I wired a manual fan switch on my K1100RS.
Good luck.

Thanks John
I guess it would not really matter if it is still powered up when th ebike is off because I usually take it with me when the bike if of anyways. I will try it out before we head for the Grand Canyon in a couple of weeks.
Thank you again
