Hello all;

I know that this is not a tech subject, but I feel it is relevant to this forum.

The Klassic K's have been around for a long time and many of us love them. Last May, while riding to work, I had the idea to hold the first rally for K bikes, the Klassic K Kampout. With only about 2 months of notice and a rainy weekend, we had a good turnout.

This years rally was listed in the MOA and RA a long time ago and is being held the weekend before the MOA just down the road from Johnson City.

I want to use the Rally and the National to get a Klassic K chartered Klub organized. Name to be determined, Brick Battalion???

Now I know VERY little about such things. I do know that it takes a little $$ and at least 10 MOA members and 5 RA members to charter with the respective clubs.

A K enthusiast has already reserved some domains k75registry.com, brickbattalion.org, kbmw.org and klassick.org for us to use.

Any help, suggestions etc. will be welcome from the group.

Thanks and hope to see ya'll at one or both of the rallies!

I don't think I can make the campout, but I would be interested in joining the Klub.

Keep me posted!

Only if you drop the silly use of "Klub". I no longer watch cartoons and Krazy Kat.

I'll be at the "Kampout", what classifies a K-bike as a "Klassic"?
Mine's a '92 K75RT

I love K bikes, but not a fan of the KKK...

PM me if I can help with the web site design :type

Gail beat me to it, I'd avoid having KKK as the initials!

I would also be a very willing member. BUT the Klub has got to go if I am to stay

My K1100RS is enough of a time-filling distraction (never wrenched on a bike as much as this K....)

Let me know if this Club- emphasis on "C"- takes off.

OK

I have used Klassic K Klub and Klassic K Kampout to emphisize the K in K bike.

I personally like the idea of the club being called something like the Brick Battalion, but that is for the club members to decide. I'm just trying to get things rolling :thumb

Between the Kampout and the MOA I hope that all of the groundwork can be laid and we have a real Klassic K group organized! :dance :dance :dance

Hi, All,
Does the term "Klassic K" or preferably, "Classic K", include only the 2-valve K-bikes or all Flying Bricks, including the 4-valve bricks?

Personally I think that there is a gray area :scratch . Real Klassic K's are 2 valve. But K1'S are also Klassic.

Now with the "wedge" motors I suppose that any longitudinal K will be a Klassic, eventually. :bolt

I would think that Classic K-bikes are ALL the steel tube framed bikes 2v and 4v. The K100, K75, K1, K100RS, and K1100 were all just small step evolutions of the original K100.

The K1200, on the other hand, started with a clean sheet of paper (other than the engine). Nothing is similar. Nothing is interchangeable. They are contemporary BMWs not a classic older design.

Count me in for the west (best) coast chapter.:thumb

Lee

I like your thinking. As I said the 1200's are different than the older K's and MUCH newer in age and design.

As a former Klassic owner and present wedge owner, IMHO you have to include all the brick engines. For example the "GT1" K1200GT longitudinal GT yes, but not this pokey K1200GT2 I thought I had to have (man I am wishing even more I would have kept my K75S! JUST to be in this klub! Oh well maybe you can make me "honorary" for being an original owner........:hug

I have three Klassic K's (K1 and two K75's) and a K1200RS, and I agree with Lee. Also, I'm in for the club.

I have three Klassic K's (K1 and two K75's) and a K1200RS, and I agree with Lee.

Production of the first K100's started in 5/82 for Europe and 3/84 for the US and ended in 9/93 K75's in 7/85 for Europe and 10/85 for the US and ended in 9/95. K11's were produced from 89 to 99.

K1200's were first produced in 96 about 14 years after the first K 100's and as Lee said have no steel frame, and no interchangeable parts.

Yes they are Bricks but no they are not Klassic designs. Kind of like all boxers are not Air Heads.

As for the club IMHO a Klassic K enthusiast should be welcome.

I am looking forward to getting things rolling at the Klassic K rally and probably the best time at the MOA would be the K tech seminar.
