I was searching for suitable new rims for my 100S and found a link to a page from a fellow Airhead Fan. Seems he has put up an interesting family website, and his section on /2-5-6-7's astounded me with all the info there!
Seems he owned a dealership here in CA years ago and he seems to have amassed a large amount of knowledge and experience. I know that for the couple of hours I was checking out his site yesterday I found myself thinking "So THAT'S what that's about!" more than once! :D
Maybe some of you have heard of or know him, his name is Duane, but check out his pages and see what you think.

I've been riding, restoring and wrenching airhead BMWs for more than three decades. Duane Ausherman was an old hand working on BMWs back when I started. He is Vintage BMW club member #17. (My number is in the low 500's.) I have a whole lot of respect and admiration for the man, his experience, his attitude and his desire to share it all. He has put together a GREAT website. (Though until I hear a more convincing arguement, I'll disagree with his idea that it doesn't matter if the gaps in the rings are all lined up.)

Duane definately knows his older Beemers. He can be found occasionally posting at the www.boxerworks.com message board. It's best to do a search there though before asking questions because they have covered about everything there over the years.

Damn Barry you beat me to it! I've been a regular at Boxerworks for over three years and I'll vouch for the usefullness of that forum! Duane also has a HUGE sense of humour though it comes across as very dry in forum postings. We have a lot of fun with him and he seems to enjoy it as much as we do. One recent bout of this was when somebody on Boxerworks decided that Duane closely resembled Gray Davis, and this was during the Kaleeforneeah recall days.
But yeah, Duane really knows his stuff. my handle's the same there as here so if you see me there say hi! :)
