My Ride Report…
My daughter and I rode Highway 36 West (http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/Highway36.htm) from my hometown of Red Bluff, CA (http://www.redbluffchamberofcommerce.com/), to Fortuna (http://chamber.sunnyfortuna.com/), down the Avenue of the Giants (http://www.avenueofthegiants.info/), back to Fortuna where we spent the night. The next morning, we rode to California's Lost Coast (http://www.openroad.tv/index.php?categoryid=16&p25_id=13) out of Ferndale (http://www.victorianferndale.com/), up the Avenue of the Giants (http://www.avenueofthegiants.info/), ate at the Samoa Cookhouse (http://www.samoacookhouse.net/index.html) near Eureka (http://www.eurekachamber.com/) and then went home on Hwy 299 through Willow Creek (http://www.willowcreekchamber.com/), Weaverville (http://www.beachcalifornia.com/weaverville-california.html), Whiskeytown National Recreation Area (http://www.nps.gov/whis/), and Redding (http://www.visitredding.org/).

If you ever eat at the Samoa Cookhouse (http://www.beachcalifornia.com/samoa-cookhouse.html) you should buy a freshly baked loaf of bread. I usually call in advance to have them hold two loaves for me.

A most excellent ride report. Clicking on the review of Hwy 36 should be required reading,it is absolutely the best road I've had the pleasure of partaking.

I agree that Hwy 36W is one of the best rides around. I've lived in Red Bluff for 50 years and have ridden it more times than I can recall. Just in case anyone missed the Hwy 36W link, here it is again...

Always look forward to seeing where you rode. Looks like a great side trip on the way to Redmond next summer.
