I have a 1974 R90/6 with a recently installed luftmeister fairing. I installed it because I am about to go on an extended trip and felt the need for some extra wind/rain protection. While it does seem to cut down on wind noise and offers some protection from the rain, it seems to have disturbed my riding position for the worse, as there is now a wind that pushes against my back, causing me to exert more pressure on my arms to stay semi-upright. It is not horrible but very noticeable nonetheless, while without the fairing the wind pushing at my chest, especially at highway speeds, combined with my bodyweight/gravity, made for a nice balance. i have the lower style european handlebars on the bike. I know it's a matter of personal preference about what i like/dislike more, but has anyone else experienced this, or know of any suggestions to remedy the situation?

I have a 1973 R75/5 with a Windjammer III fairing, so my situation is similar to yours. However, I use a standard bar with bar-backs to achieve a more upright position. That puts less weight on the hands but more weight on the butt, so I also have a Teutonic QSL solo saddle with a sheepskin cover. A duffel bag and sleeping bag over the rear fender makes a tolerably comfortable backrest.

As I was "dialing in" my comfort level, it seemed any change I made would require other, smaller changes until I was finally satisfied. Good luck!:)
