I usually ride by myself and avoid groups as they make me nervous. I have put in several thousand miles riding with my son on his Ducati Monster and his recently purchased Ducati ST2 (from Jon and Sue Diaz). We know each others moves and it makes riding together easy and safe. I usually ride my '92 R100GS on backroads and my '88 K100LT when touring.

I guess I almost always ride with other BMW riders. My closest riding buddies ride Beemers, and any group rides are usually with one of the BMW clubs here.

the only groups of riders I've ridden with have been from the Yankee Beemers, so they are typically on BMWs too: GS's, R1100R, K1100RS...

I do have an aprilia scooter (pilfered from my mom), and I wish I had a little scooter gang to drive around town, annoy the neighborhood with the whining 2-stroke engines, and chase little kids on their scooters.

i've only ridden with 5 other people, and it's been five other bikes. k100, suzuki, harley, ducati, and kawasaki.

riding a lone is a lot nicer for some reason.

We're a pretty diverse mix of oddballs.

Myself (pilot) BMW 1980 R100S

Tony (school teacher) 2003 Kawi Vulcan

Jesse (telephone engineer) BMW R80

Mark (prison engineer) 1980 Gold Wing

I ride alone quite a bit as my days off often fall on week days. I like riding with friends and riding alone....a lot depends on the mood and where you're headed.

On the weekends, I primarily ride with the local sportbike guys. GSXRs, CBRs, R1s, that kind of thing. When I go on tour, it's almost always, all BMW with occasional exceptions for VFRs and Triumphs.

The only other person that I really ride with on a consistent basis is my dad with his K100 LT. In the time of summer when riders go off to rally, we typically both meet up in Missouri and ride with some of our buddies out there who have a K1200RS and an R80GS.

If I am not out cruising with the Beemerphiles. I am usually riding with motorcycles that have two wheels. After that I am not really sure what the model/make is...

I don't really have any other riding groups....

Ride most of the time by myself. However in the past few months I have ridden with the following:

Brother 1 - Kawasaki Concours
Brother 2 - Honda 750 (older, like '85)
Nephew - Honda 750 (older also)
Sister-in-law (married to Bro 1) - '95 BMW K75S (just got it)
Friend - '03 Harley Sportster
Friend - '04 Honda 650 (brand spanking new)
Gale (Lorazepam) - some German bike....I forget, but it had two big old cylinders.
Whole buncha Jap crotch rockets on Track Day - July 4th.

Fringe Benefit of MPD - I am never alone when I'm by myself.

You live in Massachusetts... come hang out with the Yankee Beemers and you'll make lots of friends who ride BMWs. I had zero motorcycle-riding (of any mark) friends until I started hanging out with those folks.

All my friends ride Harleys except for one (1) guy who has an R75/6 and a '48 Indian Chief. He mostly rides the BMW.

I'm usually solo or with one other guy. He used to ride a R65. There was a third guy, he had a K75S. Then he sold the K75S to the guy with the R65. So it's like he is still there, in spirit. He rides a Road King now! Guess that's why he doesn't ride with us anymore.

My riding group started out as a Kawasaki Vulcan owners group which has kind of evolved into an all-brands group. At last count we had a KTM, a Cagiva, a couple of Harleys, a Ducatti, my BMW and several Vulcans.

Of course, now that I'm retired, I find I spend more time out riding alone during the week and just getting together with the group once or twice a month on the weekends.

Hmm. Let's see.

BMW, Harley, Honda, Moto-Guzzi.

And one guy who occasionally ventures out on his Kawasaki Vulcan. I rode it once -- the darn thing handles like a wheelbarrow.

I am not a fan of large crowds, so my preference is to ride alone, or with a very select few people with whom I am comfortable.

About the only time I am around a sizeable number of BMW riders is at rallies. And that too, I have found, will usually include riders on several other brands. (Albeit in the minority, simply because of the marque nature of the rally).

Last April when I was over at Dogwood Trail, there were several Gold Wingers there with their camper trailers, who said they like the BMW rallies because they (BMW riders) like to camp.

And at least one member of the local GWRRA chapter rides a K1200LT. On one of the rare occasions when I mustered the ... whatever to attend a group gathering, I asked him why he was there. He said, "They are a friendly crowd, and I enjoy their company."

For the most part, I am beginning to think marque specifc groups are specific in name only.

I'll Wave to , or RIDE with anyone as long as they have protective gear on their body.......

Well, maybe I wouldn't ride with a Harley person.........
( I'm not worthy ) LOL !

I ride with all kinds of different groups ,but the most fun is the BEEMER People !

( Greater Cincinnati BMW Club. ! )

getting sensitive to whom i ride with due to experiance more than, types of bikes, i guess partialy due to the problems with others not capable of going the distance, and all kinds of weather does not stop me , dont get me wrong , for i do spend time with those others on shorter rides but lately i guesss i find myself riding longer and farther from home than most people wish to do..... i guesss if i strike it rich someday i would become a roadcrave even more so...:clap

I have always preferred traveling alone. Even in my Harley days I liked to ride further and faster than my friends. The RT makes this difference even more noticeable.

My wife usually does one trip a year with me and she rides a Harley. My male friends all ride Harley with the exception of the guy on the Honda Valkarie (sp?). This means that now if I travel with wife or friends I am constantly dragging an anchor behind me LoL.

Short weekend runs it does not matter - I just fall in at the rear and goof along with my friends.
