View Full Version : Stripped drive drain plug

Saw in the last airhead where someone ("thunderbird" possibly?) was dealing with a stipped drain plug in the drive housing. I had the same problem and dealt with it twice. Instead of rethreading every time it happens we pretty much threw on a tap. Only part that needs to be removed is the nipple to check level of lube. It's worked like a charm and a simple fix.

I'd try that fix, except for the fact that I could never look at the rear end of my bike again. :cry

But seriously...

I just solved a stripped plug problem by using some epoxy stuff called "Form-a-thread" that I found at my local auto supply store. Works like a charm, looks dead stock and while not as strong as a real thread, you can get a seal on a crush washer.
