Riding down from Toronto to Colorado for a couple of weeks in July, and noticed an interesting little dirt road from Kremmling through Radium to State Bridge.
Looked on Google Earth and it looked interesting but was just wondering if any issue with an RT. FYI - Have ridden gravel before.
I know, I know, just buy a GS and there would be no questions.
Thanks,
John

I haven't ridden it yet, but have been told it's not a tough route at all. Alternatively, 134 over Gore Pass down to 131 (same final destination) is one hell of a fine road.

Been about 3 years since I was on it last. Fairly easy road, but can get heavy traffic on weekends. It may have some washboarding. Plan on hitting a car wash after as this is usually coated with mag-chloride to keep down dust. Remember that road work this time of year may mean fresh gravel that hasn't yet been packed down.

Good point about the road work this time of year.
I guess Gore pass it is, no complaints here.
Thanks for the info.

You're referring to the Trough Road from just south of Kremmling off Highway 9 to State Bridge at 131. It's a good gravel road and follows the Colorado River through Gore Canyon. As has been pointed out, Gore Pass over 134 is a nice alternative, very scenic, although it does not follow the river. (Access CO 134 six miles NW of Kremmling off Highway 40.) I would take Gore Pass if it was me because I have an RT and prefer pavement to gravel (even though Trough Road would not be an issue). From 131 at State Bridge you have three options. You can come North to Steamboat Springs and pick up US Highway 40, you can head South to I -70 and head toward Vail (east) or Glenwood Springs (west), or you can take the Burns Road which is also good gravel turning to pavement from just north of McCoy to Glenwood Springs. Everything is pretty, twisty and fun. Steve

+1 on the Trough Road and Burns Road in summer time. I rode that way from No. Colorado to the BMW Motorcycle Club Rally in Paonia, Colorado and it is a fun ride. Just about any bike with a decent rider could do that road as long as it is dry, etc. The Burns Road runs along the Colorado River and, for a stretch, the Amtrak runs on the other side of the river. I was racing the dome cars when I did it. Lotsa fun.
