I haven't ridden this route for a few years, but looking on my Garmin Road Trip map Hwy 43 from Stringtown, Ok heading east towards Sardis Lake looks like it's chopped up in one section. From memory that was a good road with little traffic to get me east from 69 north of Atoka over to Talihina. I remember it being mostly sweepers yet on my map it shows these 90º hard turns in one section which would imply some type of construction. Any of you Oklahomans have an update of what the status or deal is ?

It's probably been 6 - 8 months since I've been on that road, but it wasn't chopped up then. It's also pretty straight, but a decent short cut to get across to 69 or Talihena (depending on your direction). Also, look out for those Stringtown leos...ever since they got booted off of 69 for running a speed trap they have been watching this road a little more.

Can't help RTRandy. I ride west and far, far west of I-35 - it is a solitude thing.

It's not chopped. Good road. My favorite route from DFW to Talihena.
The right curve at the right edge of your map doesn't exist. The road turns left over the Sardis Dam. Then it runs into 2 just North of the 2/US 271 intersection.

Roger That Ben!
I was up there a few weeks ago, rolling through Stringtown... Make that crawling!
There was a lot of gravel near the RR crossing at the bottom of the hill just as you exit 69, and as I rolled/crawled across the RR tracks... I mean dang near walking speed... one of Stringtowns finest actually hit me with Instant On! What a JERK!

You just have a reputation and he's not going to accept that kind of activity in his town.
