I just replaced all the half worn aftermarket pads on my 89 K75S european with BMW pads. Went from fair brakes when dry to great brakes wet or dry, pricey here at $60 a set Canadian from local dealer but what a difference. I ran into one problem, the front pads had to be narrowed about 1/16" on each side to slide in the calipers. part # 34112331175 checks out for my serial #wb1056305k0107075. What gives? I am still learning about this bike and wonder if front pads for an older model would fit ?

Your bike was built in Sept. of 1988.

Heres the listing for the pads:

07 34111454724 Brake Pads Kit - Up To 09/1988 $42.97
07 34112331175 Repair Kit, Brake Pads - 09/1988 And Above $51.03

As you can see, the change happened in Sept of 1988. Like many in model year changes on bikes or cars, tracking the changes for a given vehicle is not always a black or white thing. You obviously have the earlier calipers, even though yours was one of the last 5 Euro Spec Ss made that month. (they could have built them all in the first week).

It's much easier to track the US Spec Ss as only 12 bikes were produced between 11/87 and 9/89.

Grinding down the pads works fine, just remember next time order the earlier pads (aftermarket # FA18)

The BMW pads will be more aggressive as far as rotor wear, but they do stop very well.

Thanks for the info. I wondered if it came that way or someone had installed older front calipers. My rotors are still in good shape but I'll keep an eye on them thanks for the headsup.
