Is Canada Hwy. 17 in Ontario between Sault St. Marie and Ottowa a scenic and interting route to ride,or is it somewhat boring after a 100 miles or so?

I thought it was a nice road the last time I was up there.

I mentioned this on your other thread, I have only been on it from Espanola to Ste St Marie, and it's no mother lode of roads, but I find it as you described, for the most part scenic and interesting, lake views and interesting geology (big scrapes/gouges from the last ice age). Too many log trucks but not terrible. Nice small towns.

I rode it from the Soo to North Bay in 2005. Not too bad a road, minimal scenery on that part. Don't stop for gas in Sudbury--major PITA. There is a Tim Hortons in North Bay which makes a nice afternoon coffee stop if you leave the Soo in the morning.

And as long as you mentioned stops, I just love this German restaurant/motel in Bruce Mines, which is on 17 fairly close to the Soo. Don't look at the owners last name tho, or you might think it's not a good place!

Thanks everybody. You've convinced me to take Rt. 2 along the northern part of MI and then Rt. 23 along the shore of Lake Huron.
