I am considering an 02 K1200 RS. Any comments would be very welcomed. Especially handling, riding position, quirks, etc.
I currently ride an 85 K100 RS with RT bars.
Thanks.

Depending on your height, the 02 may be a tighter fit in the leg department. The pegs on the 02 are about an inch lower than my 2000, so that may make it better for you. As shown in my sig-file, I have owned an 85, a 93 and now a 2000 RS. I had stock bars on each so the 93 bars were much better than the 85, but none are as high and wide as RT/LT bars. If you have an aftermarket screen to go with your bars, you will llikely want one for the 02, and Aeroflow (I have a clear -tall ) and Parabellum and others make good ones. For me at 5'11" with a 33" inseam, the '93 was the most comfy for long distances above 4 or 500 miles per day. Did Several 900-1000 days on it back to back. Though I love the K12 for up to 400 miles a day, and actually have not been able to get away to do more than that since purchasing it new. I do nearly 400 every Tuesday going in to Sacramento in the AM and back in the late PM.
For me, the handling of the K12 is FAR superior to the 85, not even in the same league, same with 130 or so bhp versus your current 85, and really great brakes. My weekly ride to Sac is over some of the twistiest roads in NorCal and I just love it! I do get over to the very edge of the tire. Every 85 I ever rode was more buzzy than mine but mine was way more buzzy than my K12....comparitively speaking, the K12 brick with its hung in the frame engine is smooth as glass. The 6 speed is way less (not 'un') clunky. The whole package is just as you would expect after 18 years of development....far superior. Can't think of any quirks that would be different from prior Ks.
Helping friends looking at Ks in the past couple of years, I have ridden several 85s and 8s as well as 91s, etc...they have reinforced my feelings stated above.
Hope that helps.
