A small, but important item to be sure. Many moons ago my first airhead BMW
('77 R100RS) had a set of handgrips that were "bowed". That is, the palm section was of a wider diameter (slightly humped) than the rest of the grip. These grips were soft rubber, but not foam, they almost seemed to be filled with air or gel....firmly soft, but not squishy. They were amazingly comfortable. I've looked all over for a set of these things to no avail.
If anyone can help me in my seach, or recommend a good replacement grip for my '80 R100S, I'm all ears.

The good news is that they are still available. That is the same ones or a design just like them. They were made in Italy, the brand name is Granturismo Brevettata. I bought a set last year from a local cycle shop. Motor Cycle Services 545 County Line Rd. Hatboro, Pa. 19040 Phone 215 674 1519. Hope that helps.

Talk about a timely subject. Actually Granturismo's are getthing harder and harder to find. I just bought 4 pair on Ebay. Unfortunately, there are no more black ones to fit BMWs, but you can get blue, white or red. The same guy DOES have black knockoffs, but they aren't nearly as soft as real GTs, which actually have two layers, innner and outer with ribbing (and lots of air)between them.
If you DO find real black GT's snap 'em up. And post here PLEASE.
GTs on Ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=2487043966&category=35604)

And I'll second: The black "Beston" made in Taiwan (not that that's a BAD thing) copies are NOT GTs and they aren't anywhere near as soft as GTs.

David, I called your cycle shop number you gave me and they said they did not have the grips, and had not had any in years. I'll try EBay unless you want to sell me a pair of yours! Joe
