I had the misfortune to break my clutch cable when I arrived at the GMR on Wednesday afternoon, luckily I was carring a spare. However in all the excitement I think I mis-routed it back under the tank (didn't pull the new one through behind the old one :doh ) I got some good help from some great guys, Tim & Jim but the clutch lever still feels far too tight. (Clutch operates and does not appear to be dragging). If anyone has any pics of the correct cable routing I'd be grateful to see them and compare notes.
Cheers,

I don't have a picture. But usually it gets messed up at the front around the forks.
It needs to be as straight as possible, with all bends as large a radius as possible - with the bars turned either way or centered. It should not be wire tied hard to anything. If necessary, a loose tie as a guide can be used. The shot from right front to rear left over the engine is almost a straight shot.

The front end seems to be okay after a couple of botched efforts, and the back end is easy stuff- I think the problem is under the tank, couldn't remove it as it had too much gas in it to disconnect the tubing. I'll check under there next time I get low on gas.
Thanks for your prompt reply.

Same thing happened to me the other day. The cable broke. It was only a few months old, so it was a result of kinky routing. I had changed my bars from RS to RT on my 85 K100.
With the fairing, there is plenty of room to play with and I actually rerouted the cable on the side of the tank through the fairing. A much better result was achieved with plenty of room for large turns. I routed it to the side of the frame instead of centering it through the frame. I had to do in a parking lot and didn't want to hassle with the tank removal (which I dislike intensely because of the hose clamp removal and the very short play on the pump connector).
