Hi,

I have a 2000 R1100R on which one of the instrument cluster back lights went out a while back. Maybe the low fuel light as well, it didn't come on a few days ago even though I'm sure that the tank is mostly empty. Based on the BMW parts fiche there seem to be two types of bulb in the IP, but I don't know which types exactly (I have the BMW part#s, but don't necessarily need/want bulbs with a roundel on them :)). Probably they're capless, such as the example below? Can anyone give me the bulb specs in general terms (e.g. 5mm 12W 1.7V or #12345)? That saves me from taking the instrument cluster apart twice. I'll just replace all of them while I'm at it.

Thanks,
Jacco

(But are they all the same? :dunno)

While I have a K100LT, I replace my instrument pod bulbs with 194 sub LED

The parts fiche shows 12V 1.7W, 12V 2W and in various places.

Thanks for the post. :thumb That's what I found too. Problem is that the parts fiche only shows the BMW part numbers (62142306127 and 07119978279 respectively), not a generic bulb type description (probably there are different 12V 1.7W bulb socket types for example).

Since I'm a lazy bum, I don't want to take it apart, check the bulb types, put it back together again, ride to the local cage parts place to get the bulbs, and then re-disassemble the whole thing to install my new bulbs, I thought I'd ask here first... (I could pick the bulbs up by car, but how much fun is that? :D)

They are regular 'instrument panel bulbs' from the auto parts store. Glass envelope with two naked wires sticking out the bottom. Autozone et al will have them in everywhere from .9 W to 1.8 W. Any of them will work - the only difference will be in the brightness. In fact they will have some of them in packages marked 'European Imports' or 'Import cars'.

Sounds good, I'll visit the local autozone to see what they have in stock. Thanks all!
