I also live in Lima and am more than willing to assist members with info on our area. I was totally blown away with news rally would be held here in Lima. We don't even have a local BMW dealer. Most dealers within 75 miles. As Sue wrote Fairgrounds camping is great and there are several taverns close by. (Short walk) Walmart Supercenter, Kmart, Shopping centers all within walking distance. Holiday Inn Holidome, Hampton Inn, Motel 6 are within 1 mile. As well as Texas Roadhouse, Lobster House, Bob Evans, Olive Garden and numerous others all within 1 mile. KOA campground is in Wapakoneta, about 17 miles down interstate I 75. I have 2 acres of Grass and an acre of woods within 4 miles of Fairgrounds with plenty of firewood, but no shower. Will rent Port-A-John if enough want to stay here. Beer permitted. Haha. Seriously If I can be of assistance please don't hesitate to email questions or post here. Will try to check back daily

Just a note to reassure everyone that the

BMW MOA WILL DEFINITELY

have beer available on the rally grounds!

:beer

Other than that, Howard is right about the other popular restaurants and bars within walking distance of the rally. And the FAIRGROUNDS are awesome. (okay. I know, I know. I am repeating myself...)

sue,

forget the beer, this guy has 2 acres of grass! that's just too good an offer to refuse. (i didnt know you could grow it so far north out of doors.) hopefully he's got a freezer full of pizzas and a dumptruck of doritos, cause he's going to need them! wooooo!

unless there's gonna be plenty of grass at the rally, in which case, never mind. ;)

The most important question is, how much shade is available on those two acres?

Just a quick note: I am not trying to steal Mikes thunder, just another source of information for you all to utilize.

Beer at the Fairgrounds makes this rally totally awesome. There is plenty of shade there, restrooms with showers, grass (to sleep on), Buildings for exhibitors and temperatures in July are very bearable. When you get in you won't even have to leave fairgrounds unless you desire to. Crime in that area is not an issue, never has been. Majority of "crime is located in 1 specific area of town for the most part. But one word of caution, The auto drivers here are not very courtious to each other so please drive defensively at all times. That is the only thing I would be concerned about. If you live in an area where courtesy is commonplace, you may be dissapointed here.

Looking forward to seeing all of you next year!

There are no train tracks near the fairgrounds; no train noise in the night! Plus, the grounds are about a mile from the interstate, and I've never noticed noise problems from there, either.

Cool unless I am stupid next year and offer to bartend thursday night and find out I cant partake in golden soda's. There is something way wrong with the rule that the ones freezing our hand off in the ice tubs cant down 1 or 2 while working

Typically that is a state law and not a BMWMOA rule. Also remember it is all the water you can drink.

We, since I volunteered as well, are responsible to be able to determine if the people we are serving are overly inebriatted.
