I have a '96 K1000RS and my girlfriend owns an '88 K75s. While the K11 was under warranty, I let the dealer do everything. We just aquired the K75.

I'm considering mounting and balancing my own tires in order to save a few $ and get my hands dirty and because the closest dealer is about 75 miles away, convenience.

It appears that because of the single swingarm, most static balancers require an adaptor. I've seen the Rod Neff balancer,
( www.pbase.com/rodneff/2axis adj balancer ) and it has some pretty glowing writeups from users.

I also found one that works like a lawn mower blade balancer, similar (maybe the same one) that a BMW dealer used on my bike at Eastwood, ( www.eastwoodco.com ) item #43554 .

I would like to receive advice, input, feedback, ideas before I settle on anything, paticularly if anyone is familiar with the one from Eastwood.

I've had good luck with a balancer from Marc Parnes. The price is right and you can specifiy adapters for specific bikes. The adapter for the k75 works good. It is simple and nicely made, and it doesn't take up much space in the tool box.

Thanks for the reply.

I checked the site out, and it looks easy enough for us amatuers!
Thanks for the info.

I doubt the Eastwood balancer would work; it probably won't fit into the wheel at a place where the wheel is at the right relative height.

A few options are listed on my web page, along with the dimensions of the BMW balance adapter.
