I do the work on a friend's '83 R100. I have rebuilt the master and replaced the brake lines. The brake is stiff and the brake light stays on. I am wodering if the slaves on the bottom need to be overhauled or the master rebuild is now dirty.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

In my Yamaha days, we always encouraged folks to make sure the very small pilot hole inside the master cylinder that allows pressure relief to draw the calipers back was unobstructed. I would be surprised if a BMW master cylinder didn't have a similar port inside.

What do you mean by "The brake is stiff..."?
Do the brakes operate correctly when you apply hand pressure? Does that bike have the mechanical switch in the hand grip? Did you check it? Is everything rebuilt and installed by the book? Are you dead sure? Are the pads retracted into the calipers and are the pads in spec? Did you check? Is the system correctly and completely bled?
I just completed a similar job on my bike and before we were done, we checked everything. Maybe someone will come up with a quick-fix but I'd need more info.
