What bike do you have? Do the grips have concentric ribs all the way down them?
They might not be stock grips. The BMW ones are really snug and you have to use 409 spray or a soapy solution to get them on when new. Also, if you get the BMW ones and have heated grips, get two throttle side grips to ease installation.

We do have a bike that has aftermarket heated grips and they are different as well.

Remove the grip using compressed air.

Clean inside of grip and handlebar with alcohol.

Apply grip glue, NOT HAIRSPRAY, 409, SPIT, or anything else that is water soluable etc...after all your life is worth at least $2 for a tube of the proper glue...right? :scratch

Reinstall grip, using compressed air.

I safety wire mine also, just because...
