View Full Version : K75S -- GS Handguards install - bad fit

I went to install the right side of my GS style handguards today on my K75S and I ran into some trouble. It doesn't fit correctly. The handguards on my friend's 1992 R100GSPD (which has the exact same controls as my K75S) are different-- the guard covers the top of the brake reservoir; these ones don't.
Did BMW change them after all these years? Or did I get the wrong set, designed for a different bike?

The bottom here is hitting the brake line and does not fit properly:

Doesn't look like a proper fit:

Thanks in advance.

Somehow this looks like the wrong set. If you look at:

You'll see an S with the handguards (and very handy they are..)
You can also see that side in:

and even clearer in:

It looks from your photos (which I snipped) as if you got something other than the correct GS handguards. I'd be talking to whoever you bought them from. Do you have the PN (on the bag they came in)? If so - I can check it against the ETK and see if you got the correct part number.

Thanks Don.
I called SJBMW and they looked up the 92 R100GS on the fiche and it showed a different set with them covering the resevoir. Return and replace. I should have taken them out of the box at the dealer and checked them first.

Steven - cool.
I kinda thought the right one looked a bit odd.. :)
They are very useful in cold and wet.. make the heated grips much more effective.
