A couple of weeks ago, I upgraded the left cam chain tensioner on my '03 R1150R (from Rubber Chicken Racing). A few days later, I noticed some oil on the left cylinder, under the cam chain cover. Upon closer inspection, the (very minor) leak is coming from the cam chain cover.

The only time the oil drips on to the ground is when I leave the bike on its sidestand (parked at work). It's a tiny amount of oil and doesn't really cause me much concern, but I do wonder if the upgrade has anything to do with this drip, or it's a coincidence on a 5 year old bike and it's just a case of a worn out seal. I took off the cam chain cover and cleaned around the seal, but this didn't fix the leak.

I'm wondering if this is a coincidence and just I need a new seal for my left cam chain cover or the recent upgrade is the cause. Any feedback would be welcome.

If you mean the black plastic one on the back of the head - there is no connection to the tensioner. It is subject to splash from the chain is about all. I think tired O ring.

If you mean the crush casket where the tensioner screws in - then there would seem to be a connection.
