Brake light stays on

1999 r1100rt the brake light stays on as if I have applied the brakes any ideas

Check the rear brake switch (behind the right foot peg). It could be getting hung up somehow and not fully disengaging causing the brake light to stay on. Happened to me when I replaced my rear brake switch. Just a thought.

You've got 2 top suspects. The handle bar brake switch, or the foot pedal switch. When you press either of the switches do you hear the micro switch engage and disengage when you pull the lever or hit the pedal? If they both seem to work then start with the foot switch, it's easier. Unplug and replug the switch. Does this have an effect? The front switch is next , same drill. This is of course after you have verified that you are looking at the correct bulb. Good luck.
