Had the rims off my 1981 R100S powder coated. Got an email last night once they finished the first on. I think it looks awesome. My bike is all black. The lip is red, the camara flash gives it an orange look. Will post pics once they are on the bike.

Lookin' GOOD !
(now the rest of the bike will want to match that level of detail !!!)
Is the "red lip" a fluorescent vinyl "stick-on" ?

This is a two tone powder coat. NO tape. Can't wait to get them on the bike.

I have the same question!
How can they do that red stripe without using tape? :dunno
My bet is that the PCer laid down red powder coat, baked it and then sprayed the black after tapeing off the stripes.
.....but maybe we're about to learn something!
PS: Those wheels look really nice! Still.... I'll be very happy when the Black-on-black bike craze is over and people go back to pristine white wheels!

Your right, the red was layed first. The black was then applied with new process, using a wet powder. iIwill get more info on how it was done when I pick the up.

:jawdrop I see a magazine cover in your future. Are you going to PC the calipers and the brake rotor carriers?

How much did it cost to have the wheels powder coated? Can you give us the info on who did it?

To have the rims two tone, it was $240 for the set. One solid color would have only been $160. Got them done at TNC powder coating in Jacksonville NC.

I'm interested in seeing how you mount them without chipping the powder coat.

Just wondering, before coating did you do any cleanup and smoothing of the mould parting lines and other rough parts of these wheels?
