Ah, Texans....they're so funny.
It's LORD Stanley and his cup is the Holy Grail of the NHL.
But you knew that............
No knowledge of sparrows required, just 16 wins.

From what my daughter tells me (4th year at UConn) there are lots of people still wandering around Connecticut wearing Hartford Whalers jerseys. They still haven't given up even though the team moved to Carolina 11+ years ago!

But how about those Bruins! 3 & 0 vs the Habs. 3 wins down, 13 more to go.

My daughter is a Red Wings fan, her boyfriend is pulling for the Blue Jackets (although he is a Sabres fan) and I am sad the Wild missed the playoffs. There is always next year.

Isn't Sydney a girls name?

no one said the canes could do the last time, but with so many ncaa basketball fans looking for something to do after the big dance the storm flags are flying and the winds are rising... rotation has started and the eye is forming...

Our blizzard yesterday must have helped invigorate the Flames to tie the Chicago series. It's real hockey weather here.

Well my Canucks are done now, the Sundin experiment I will classify as a bust.
But I was very impressed with the play of the Blackhawks. Young team, play hard, don't know the meaning of the word "quit".

I now await the start of the CFL for the year- Go Riders!

Go 'Hawks...

Honestly, since Montreal got spanked I really don't care who wins the Stanley Cup. I just think it would be quite humourous to see baby faced Jonathan Toews being presented the cup.

Oh yeah. YIPPY. The Bruins are done.

Saturday night was Red Wing hockey. I'm in New York but was born in the U.P., we had a home team, my dad played defense and my uncle benny (his older brother) played goalie. I am however a Steeler fan. Go Redwings

That was a good game tonight. Young Fleury certainly rebounded from game 5 and played well. Pitts bent but did not break in the 3rd, I thought Det would tie it for sure. But we now get the hockey fans ultimate treat- GAME 7!!
I hope no one lays an egg and we get an exciting game.:dance

I'm not a big sports guy, but I went down to the local bar for some food, beer, and to watch the game. Being so close to Detroit it was pretty quiet when the game ended. Personally, I was OK with it since my aunt lives in Pittsburgh, I've been to a Penguins game, and I didn't have any big allegiance to Detroit. It probably would have lifted spirits in Detroit where unemployment is a whopping 23%, but I have to say they didn't really "bring it" until halfway through the third period - too late.

Congrats to a young/new team!
I thought for sure Detroit would pull it out.. It looked like they were toying with the penguins like a cat with a mouse.
But they held out and as a TEAM they did do it..

Like Josh, I'm not really one to follow any sport and am not much of an armchair player either but this seems a special game played the way it was intended (not a fight where a hockey game broke out). Excellent game which clearly showed the power of team effort and coordination.:thumb:thumb -Bob

Born and raised in Pittsburgh, I'm a Pens fan.
That said, Detroit made them earn it, and the two teams together made the series worth watching even for non-fans. How many other games in other sports have been as exciting?

I feel for the people in Detroit needing a morale-boost; they didn't get the total package, but the Red Wings still went the distance and gave them something to be proud about.

The Pens as well, validated Mario's faith in them and his efforts to save the team and keep it in Pittsburgh. He deserved to hoist the Stanley again just for that level of loyalty and dedication, something the sports world needs more examples of.
