What don't you like about your GS that makes you want to trade it so soon? What is your issue with not doing long trips on your GS?
I realy appreciate the RT when it, rains, hails & is cold! I also like the extended fuel range over my GS! But living in Florida, I don't think I'd wanna be hiding behind that fairing all the time!
Servicing the GS is easier because you don't have to deal with the tupperware & when changing tires you don't have to remove any fenders!
Get a bigger windshield for long trips, tank panniers for more space & a Moto Fizz seat bag that holds a ton of stuff! :dunno

And Tobinators. It'll alleviate that nasty turbulence you find behind the screen.
But yeah, like *shag* said, what's wrong with the GS? You can ride those things anywhere.

If the GS has a five speed tranny and single spark plugs, the new RT may be smoother, especially on the highway. The big question is whether or not you want a faired bike that looks really nice.

I love my RT. Living in the Northland means the weather protection counts a great deal. Being old means the comfort of that suspension counts a great deal.
My motorcycling is almost all long trips and the RT seems perfect for me. I must admit that the GS at times looks cool also - to me it looks like a bike that dreams of round the world travel.
No one motorcycle is perfect for all things. You need to buy the compromise that most fits your style and your dreams. Happy choosing Phil.

I've always wondered what the GS attraction is ... yes they look gnarly but get real .... the RT is epitome of good looks. I have no problem if you get the RT ... :-)
