My 92RT decided this afternoon that it wanted to run on the right cylinder only. I made sure it was getting fuel, it is. Just to try the easiest things first I swapped plugs, sameo sameo. Took off tank, removed plug wires from coil and swapped , gingerly reconnected tank , still no fire on the left. Took the two connectors off coil cleaned all contacts, still no workie. I suspect the old coil. BTW my old 82RS did the same and a new coil fixed it right up. What do you think???? New coil is $175.00

I am very satisfied with my Dyna Brown coil which I used to replace my crack-o-matic BMW grey coil on my 82 R65. For $90, Rick at motorad-elektrik will set ya up with a Dyna Brown coil for your bike which includes all the mounting hardware - I believe it will bolt right in, but you can ask him if any changes to mounting holes are required on your 92.
Here is a link - you'll have to call to order from him, his website doesn't do orders right now. He is highly recommended.

To confirm your bad coil theory, try swapping coils (just swap both plug leads at the coils). If the other cylinder loses fire your theory is a possible cause.

Measure the resistance between the two plug wire connectors at the coil. Should read 12k-15k Ohm.
I just bought one at:

On my R90/6, there's a wire connecting the two.
It came disconnected once and I was only getting spark on one side.
