If I were interested in an "S" I'd go for the multi-color scheme. :deal

CJACK - I like it a lot, way better 'live' than in the photos. Then I went outside and the sun was shining on that new reddish orangish colored one, and it was all I could do not to pull out a check book.

Well they are pretty much all gone out of the warehouse now, but when I was considering one, I thought I could leave the front panels and replace the tank panels with the solid color of Granite Grey or Black. The Grey seemed to look the best. The tank just doesn't flow from the front panel design for me...looks like a jumble of different colors.
Take a look at a picture of one and imagine the grey tank or maybe black. Also though, the Granite Grey is available from BMW parts, but the black on the bike is Sapphire Black and not the same as the'08 Deep Black.

I was at my favorite dealer again yesterday and took a look at the multi colored. I think it would be better with the black center as you say. But, I still liked that orange and since I was just dropping in on my bike, Joe invited me for a test ride on the Orange one. I have purposelly avoided test riding the new K's because I knew I would love them, and such a purchase might not go well with starting up our Inn business. Well, I was truely blown away. So strong, comfortable, fast, quiet but throaty, Fast, tons o' torque, beautiful, and FAST. Hopefully things will work out well with the taxman this year 'cause that bike is wonderfull. The electric shift was really cool. Took a bit to get used to because it is not a speed shift with no clutch, you don't back off the throttle to match, just shift and go.....that will be really nice on the track. It handled so sweet. Now, if the 13 does come out in the prior black......OMG.

I read somewhere that the multi color was completely sold out for 2009 and that no more will come until the color change of 2010. So basically its silver or red until next summer.
True?

I don't know about next summer but they are gone. The other colors are metallic light grey and orange actually.

Seems like a major marketing mistake to offer unpopular colors and sell out of good ones. My guess is they could have sold more bikes if they had a better selection.
Classic BMW fail.

BMW has had some pretty unpopular colors here in the USA. I have often thought that maybe we are not the judge of what colors the world generally likes.

That's what was sitting on the floor Friday. Not near as loud as the orange one a few weeks back!

I like the fairing, but the tank is a little busy. The basic color of the fairing is Granite Grey. I wonder what it would look like with Granite Grey tank panels (which are available).
