Several years ago I bought some black plastic(nylon?) screws form a vendor at a rally for the windshield on my '82 R100RS. Now the color in the heads are bleeding out.
Seems he had all kinds of the little "stuff" for your beloved.
About a #8 x 3/4"long pan-head screw would work nice.
Anybody know who that vendor might be?
Anybody?

Nice website, that's what I want, $24/shipping too steep for a $10 order. I'll keep looking for now.

Try McMaster-Carr. they may not be made in the fatherland though, if you are a purist. They ship quick, and have almost anything you need! The local tractor supply stores have them too, if you are in a rural area.

You can also go to your local Ace hardware store and get the size fasteners you need, then go to the grocery store or Wally world and get a package of RIT dyd in whatever color you want. Mix the dye in a quart of water in an old saucepan over low heat and bring to a slow boil. Add the fasteners and simmer for maybe 15 minutes, then let cool. Not only will the fasteners absorb the dye, but there will also be some stress-relieving of the nylon occurring. You can then discard the left-over dye, or save it for a future project.

I am familar with these types of nylon screws, nuts and washers. They are generally considered to be automotive fasteners and any fastener section at a well equipped hardware store will have them. (Ace, Trustworthy etc.) Auto supply stores will be likely to stock them as well.

Google Fastenal for your area, see if there is one nearby. They got every metric style fastener known to man. I bought a whole box of hex head stainless screws for $24, and I just cut them to different lengths using a Dremel and file dresser. I think I wound up with just 2 or 3 boxes of different sizes, been working out of them for 5-6 years now.

if the fasteners are in good condition – other than the faded color ...
RIT (http://www.ritdye.com/Rit+Products+Available.5.lasso) fabric dye.
I buy white fasteners (black not being available at the hardware)
and treat them to a RIT bath (following package directions) with good results.

If you have a marine supply store in your area, they should have them.

X-mas tree panel clip fasteners are common in automotive applications
available in a variety of sizes
and can be found cheap at most auto-parts stores.
