Last week I used the OVAD to do my valves, instead of a single feeler gauge. This morning, I used a tech article written by John to use the twinmax to adjust the TB synch.

I can now idle away from a light, something I couldn't do before. It pulls from below 3k now, that is something it didnt do before. With 9.5k on the clock, this bike is just getting smoother and smoother.

The paper is easy to understand, and follow. Anyone on this board can do their own tuneups, and save a bundle, not to mention make your bike run way better than the dealer can.

I have some questions regarding some differences I saw compared to the paper. My Screws bottomed out with just a half turn. I didnt want to strip anything out, so I stopped. Is this normal for the twin spark 1150? I am idling at 1000 exactly according to the tach.

When the sensitivity is set to max, the needle will swing when at idle. It is no big deal, I just center the waves, and then turn down the sensitivity till it stabilizes to make sure. above 2k or so, it seems to smooth out. I installed the enclosed reducers. Do I need smaller ones?

If I were to do photos with John's text (with his permission of course) could I post it in a how to section on here? I will give full permission to any member to view it, and to download it as long as it is for personal use and not for sale.

Hang it up in the oilheads section and we can sticky it for a while if you want.

I love it when you guys talk dirty. Uhhh, what is an OVAD? and "the twinmax"? (I'm guessing "TB synch" is for throttle body)

Oilhead Valve Adjustment for Dummies (http://www.advrider.com/Wisdom/Wisdom.html)

A Twinmax is a nifty electronic manometer you can use to balance the throttle bodies.

Are you sure it was me? I haven't posted any useful tech info since 1997. :D

You must feel my pain, Don. I've walked up to Burt Reynolds a couple times, confusing him with you.
