With summer coming just around the corner, I hope, snow in the Colorado mtns. today! I am getting ready for rides and rallys. No work for me this summer, I turned down all my teaching jobs so now stress from that. I just miss my 02 1150GS. Man did I have that set up for comfortable long distance riding. A dual heated corbin seat was heavy and taller but oh so very comfortable. The BMW engine guards had highway pegs on them and I could stretch out. I had the adventure shield, autocom etc. My wife and I put 90,000 on it in 6 years as our primary ride. Now, I have to start all over again with a 08 adventure. Stupid auxillary plug doesn't have enough juice to run a heated liner, turn signals turn off before I get finished with a turn, worse gas mileage, stock seat is okay but not a Corbin and on and on. I miss the blue and white GS!! Does everyone do that once or twice in there life? One step forward and two steps backward.

Yes! But our solution is to take another step backwards. Voni has had 4 K75s. She would trade or sell one, and soon decide it was a mistake and get another. My venerable K75 was wrecked after 19 years, and since then I have bought two, and would buy another when I find a good standard (high) seat '86 or '87 T or standard model in good condition at a reasonable price.

It happened to me as well, Had a R1150GS-01 with a similar set-up. Traded for a HD, sold it. Back on a R1150RT-04, I like it a lot but I miss the GS. The GS might be the best bike (for anything) in my opion.

One of the reasons I keep my 94 R1100RS is that there has not been a bike that enticed me to take a step forward from it.

I did take a step sideways getting the F650GS and then the F800GS to replace it.

I agree. If you've got an RS that doesn't surge, and has a five speed, there is really no need to move to anything else.

Same for me, my 94 R1100RS is approaching 140k miles, and I have been riding it since Oct 94. No surging, ever. It is really smooth putting through town in 3rd gear at 3,000 rpm, so surge, no stumbles, just roll on the throttle and go!

Mine has a 96 spec tranny in it that actually shifts ok. Cable clutch feel and action is great. Good throttle action. I put Wilbers on it last year (BEST money I spent on the bike in 12 years). now it rides great, I know the bike SO well, it handles great for me, I can scrub the chicken strips off the edges of the tires in full confidence, I can hum along for HOURS at 4,000 to 5,000 grand.

Its a great bike that I have NO urge to replace.
