battery cover question

i want the batterycover thats mounted on 1975 r60/5 and many more models , I don´tt want the steel batterycover( longer) that came with my bike (´72 R/60) question is , are the frame identical in that part of the bike? so if i buy a cover thats for ´75 r60 will it fit?

I don't think so...the earlier bike is a SWB while the later one is a LWB. The fiche indicates the battery covers for bikes up through 9/72 are one number and the part number after that is different. I don't know if that is due to styling changes or changes in the wheelbase and frame.

The Pink Smoke bike in ON a couple of months back had a set of each that she interchanged. The only critical fitment is the angle of the rear frame tube where the cover slips on. The front is simply held against the frame by the big rubber ring. Pick up a set of later covers (they are not too pricey - or just borrow some to try) and see if they fit OK. If not, resell them.
