How do I PM pictures?

I don't know if I'm missing something obvious or what; but I can't figure out how to attach pictures to Private Messages. The little paper clip just isn't there.
Please use layman's terms; I'm obviously not very "techno-savvy".

Hosted images, like from smugmug or the like, no problem.
I do not think PM's allow attachments (the little paper clip thingy).

Here lies the problem; I've received three separate requests for pictures of either items for sale on the flea market, or a "visual aid" related to a thread topic. People send PMs asking for these, and without an email address to reply to, I can't oblige them. I don't do any of those "myface/spacebook" pages, either.
I just wanted to check and see if there was something I was missing; in the meantime all I can do is reply to these folks and say "sorry, I can't send them this way".

Ask them an email address - that's what I do.
