I bought a 2001 K1200LT last April and have put about 5000 miles on it already. Now has about 40,000 miles on it. Since the beginning, I have been told that a knocking in the engine area is normal when it is cold. Told that it is something to do with the alternator splines or something and have been told it's perfectly normal. Anyone else experiencing this? This is the only BMW I've every ridden and have nothing else to compare to it.
