After reading Oak's last installment on the o-ring saga I decided to measure my depth while changing the oil last night. The depth measures .160" or about 4 mm. I have NOT been using the paper gasket and when I remove the o-ring it's cross section has become square. This seems like it is getting too much compression...yet Oak's findings show that I should add another metal spacer ring.

What is your depth? With what parts installed or left out? And what does the o-ring look like when you remove it?

The shim was for the older cans that would cut the "O" ring.
My R100R would seep a little oil now and then. I put in one shim.
That stopped the leak. The "O" ring should compress to the square area that holds it. That means it is getting a tight seal.
From what you said it sounds fine. Leave it as is.
