We always say that motorcycling is a form of therapy and is our psychiatrist. Check out the following article that says that motorcycling might keep you young and it improves your cognitive abilities. Very interesting. It's a quick read. :thumb

It's the adrenalin... and the awareness of life's possibilities rather than it's risk... none of us get out alive...
Of course we don't want to rush it, either...

Knew it all along - just had to wait for the right scientific study to come out. We can now ignore all the other studies that find the opposite.;)

I always feel 19 when I ride but when I get over to my girlfriends house she looks 50 at least.

Nothing a coupla shots/ale back won't cure (if you are done riding for the day)

Not that I disagree, mind you.............but it's always amusing to me that you can tell the conclusion of most studies without reading them by looking at who funded them. :scratch
Wonder what a combined study from Yamaha and Cialis would show............:p

Does lack of motorcycling make a person sad?
Yep, I say as I watch the snow pouring down, covering up the brown grass outside my office window. Damn you Minnesota, damn you...I feel years older than my actual age today. Thank God for the gym tonight, or I think I would be pushing the "feel like"age of 103!
I can say with some degree of expertise that lack of riding is making me unhappy and feeling very old. I don't want to count the numbers forward OR backward, I am NOT happy today knowing that the GS sets on it's center stand, ready, willng and able, and I am having another uneventful day riding in my boxer powered Subaru; one more time in 2009 :(

Way back when, someone had an ad that said (approximately) "Put something exciting between your legs." :p

I mentioned this to my wife - she said, "crossword puzzles do the same thing (keeping one's mind sharp) and are not near as dangerous.

Perhaps crossword puzzles kind the mind active, but the arenaline rush and endorphines produced during motorcycle riding have much more to do with it. Its about keeping the mind active certainly, but moreso about keeping the body active along with the mind.
A couple of old sayings come to mind:
"A life not risked, is a life not lived"
"You don't quit riding motocycles because you got old, you got old because you quit riding motorcycles."
I think the first saying is very apt at describing why we do things that invigorate us, excite us, challenge us. Look how many older people we meet that downhill ski, scuba dive, sky dive, participate in competitive sports. For each and every one of the those, everyone that meets or describes those people will invaribly say something like, "wow, 82 years old and sharper than most people at 40!"
Now,....we need more studies to prove that maintaining "intimately" active is good for long life.
