recently purchased this 85 K100RT.. love it ..
But in the past several rides, the speedometer did not work, until the bike warmed up AND after several bumps over the railroad tracks.. the speedometer is electronic.. does anybody have any ideas what can be done (on the cheap!) Thanks.

My '86 does this intermittantly. I find that if I remove the right side cover and "wiggle the electrical connector between the sensor on the final drive and the speedo, the problem goes away for a while. I have carefully cleaned and tightened the metal male and female connectors, inside the plastic blocks, Then put a wrap of electrical tape around the connector to prevent it from vibrating loose, helped also.
There have been other threads in this forum with more and/or less drastic problems/solutions. But I offter this as something I have experienced on my own 86 K100RT.

Roy,
Go here> http://www.ibmwr.org/ktech.shtml
and page down to Instrument Cluster. There is a wealth of knowledge on the IBMWR pages.

On the wife's new to her, 1991 K75RT, a little under 2 months ago I took apart AND reassembled teh cluster using all of the info found on IBMWR.ORG and the suggestions found here.
this one is one I remember but there are more.

I did end up buying Stabilant 22 and have had no problems since cleaning, ascraping pins and coating everything electical I could get at with Stabliant 22. I think they're a Canadian co. I got mine at a NAPA parts store here in Illinois. About 65.00 US.
I could have helped you 2 weeks ago I was up in Belleville.
Good luck,
Bob
