Is the Indian marque going to live to another day?

What I wonder is if they'll ressurect in Gilroy or elsewhere?
But they certainly have had the success bringing back Chris Craft!

Weren't they just coming out with a 100cubic inch motor that was well reviewed right as the company went in the toilet last year?

I thought they were close to announcing.
I think the plant closing caught the Gilroy folks by surprise though.

Hopefully not an unreliable glorified Harley clone with fancy fenders and off-the-shelf bits this time around.

Good luck to them. But as I understand it, there is nothing left at the Gilroy location for them to buy; all of the equipment was sold at auction early this year.
Indian had in fact introduced their "Power Plus" 100 cubic inch motor, which was not a strict Harley clone, though I've heard it said that it wasn't far from it. The last model year bikes had this motor and their last month, May last year, was apparently a good one and on a rising trend.

I don't know much about boats but the current generation of Chris Craft I've seen look like pretty much any other boat but with a really cool old famous moniker on them. While I'm not a fan of the traditional Indian style or design, I can't help but wonder what form it will take if they do indeed put it back in production. Here's a chance to start with a clean slate. Whole lotta potential, and a market already flooded with expensive cruisers. Any bets?

A market already saturated with expensive cruisers is exaclty why it would be an irresponsible use of capital to float a high-ticket, Harley knock off into a market that has already failed to support the product. The "Indian Motorcycles" name might be the only asset of value left if the manufacturing facility was liquidated.

I enjoy looking at old Indians, but I hafta agree with my fellow posters. Does Indian really have a chance in the crowed cruiser market? Why would someone dump money down that pipe?
Too many Harley clones out there now.

So, which tribe of "native Americans" is going to take them to court to stop them from using the name this time?

They could just put little red dots on the fender and say that it's the "other" Indian..

Perhaps some of you will remember when Stanford were the
Indians. Now they're simply "Cardinal". There is a local high
school that were "Fremont Indians" and they are now the
Firebirds.

And maybe replace the chief-head fender ornament with a little Siva or Ganesh!

You have to give the riders brass angel bells, shaped as cows.

I'm sure there is some horrible, insensitive remark that could be made about cloth on the heads. But I won't go there.. it would be wrong and politically incorrect. I'm not that kind of guy. Really. The sweet smell of curry puffing out the exhaust as you cruise down the road. Sorry, I couldn't resist.
