I´m planning to change my piston rings on my R60/5. But before I dig in to the machine
I need to know about the importance of the H-shaped Jig...
Is that tool really necessary ? what is it for? If I align the pushrods according to picture, won´t that be enough?
think i need some help here ;)

Oak's Top End Manual discusses this in extensive detail. From the quick read, it's important to ensure that the rocker blocks are properly positioned with respect to each other, both horizontally and vertically. I'm guessing you want them arranged in a "perfect" square and the square oriented correctly on the head. This will allow proper push and rotation of the rods during operation. Oak indicates that the pushrods will be centered left-right in the top and in the top 1/3 of the area of the tube, at least slightly above the exact center of the pushrod tube hole.

I spec'd then made one of the H-fixtures; makes a simple task difficult. Get a copy of Oak's "Top End Manual" with the excellent procedure for setting the rocker arms/push rods, described in simple detail. Once you've read it, then done it free-hand, you'll understand.

I'm glad you asked this question. I was just about to. So, do we or do we not need the H shaped jig?
Thanks.
