WI IL IA MN ... RS Roundup

I had this idea a while ago that it would be really cool to have a bunch of RS's get together for comparing notes and a whack group photo. I started listing RS posters on the MOA Airhead forum and there are a good few in my area withing a couple hours. Instead of making a special event out of it we could get together at an established organized event. Two come to mind in the immediate future that would work nicely.
I have mentioned this to several of you and had encouraging response so I'm going forward.
Besides RS owners, it would be cool to meet with any of you that we have conversed with here. I am going to be at both of the two events stated here anyway and I would like to meet.

I have read Peter Eagan, he of the moto journalist world, makes the Slimey Crud run every year. That is how I came to be aware of this event. I'd love to do it aboard my ol' 78 RS! Of course any other gathering would do also.

Tell you what. Just fake an RS. Tape over them holes in your upper fairing (matching tape would be best - or you could just permanently cover 'em over with fiberglass and paint 'em to match the bike), saw a couple inches off your windshield, and tell everybody you found these really cool fairing pockets and swiped the bars off an RT so you wouldn't get shoulder cramps. Most of us are dumb enough to buy that. :thumb

Hate to go OT on youse guys, but I have a slimey crud observation I have been wanting to find a stump to stand on about:

Does it seem to any one else that the crud run is sorta going, ummm, commercial? Like "Slimey Crud Inc". It's always been so low key, now it's in a Harley magazine, people handing out flyers, I think it's in real danger of getting organized, which I think will kill it cuz if the Sauk County cops had their way it would be dead.

Yeah. I'll be there, with 2 too many cylinders.

If I don't sell my R75/6 before this weekend I may be trailering it to the swap meet. I can only fit one bike on the trailer so I would not have an RS. Unless it sells before that .....

I was there on Saturday, ride through the rain but I made it, I saw two other RS's.

I got there at 2 PM and left with some loot after 5. As I was leaving I saw a dark blue RS and across the field there was a white RS. I never followed through with any method of finding each other there. With the weather as it was I wasn't expecting too many other motorcycles to be there.
