I recently received a GARMIN Novi 255W GPS unit as a raffle prize. I plan on using it for the International Rally this summer. I have a 2001 R1150 GS and I am a little overwhelmed by the flood of information on line regarding the best way to mount this thing. I am aware this model is not the best choice for a motorcycle but it was free and its what I have to work with. I am looking for the most ECONOMICAL alternatives of bar mounting it (short of stuffing it in the map window of my tank bag!) I'm pretty handy and have a good workshop but I prefer to avoid a total make-it-yourself setup. Suggestions on routing the wiring would be helpful too as I imagine there is a better way than shoving that huge auto adapter in the accessory port with it's long cord. Sincerely Jimmy

One item I might suggest for your GPS is an AquaBox

http://www.ram-mount.com/aqua_box_mount/aquabox_mediumwide_mount.htm

This will give your unit more weather protrection, as this unit is not IPX7 certified.

Good luck with your mount and enjoy your GPS

Thanks for the info regarding the Aqua Box. Not only a great idea but the price is reasonable too. Seems like RAM products sort of have the market for mounts. Cheers! Jimmy
